Session on threat of climate change on human health for midwifery students
Dr. Arjumand Rabbani conducted an educational session on “Climate Change: The Emerging Threat to Human Health and Well-Being” engaging 65 midwifery students and two faculty members at Cowasjee Community Midwifery School.
She explained that human activities, particularly those that increase greenhouse gas emissions, are major drivers of climate change and global warming, with serious implications for public health, Special emphasis was placed on the importance of protecting high-risk groups, such as pregnant women, mothers, newborns, and children. As future healthcare professionals, midwives have a vital role to play in educating communities, protecting vulnerable populations, and promoting climate-conscious healthcare practices.
