Educational session on cervical cancer for midwifery students
Dr. Arjumand Rabbani, RCK New Central's Polio Chair and Rotary District 3271 Co-Chair, Disease Prevention & Treatment, conducted an educational session on “Cervical Cancer” at Kharadar Midwifery School.
She explained that cervical cancer is a major cancer affecting women in Pakistan, with an estimated 5,000 new cases and around 3,000 deaths annually. She emphasized that cervical cancer is preventable through Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination at the age of 9–14 years and regular screening. Early detection and timely treatment can improve outcomes.
29 students and 2 faculty participated in the session. They were encouraged to educate women, families, and communities about HPV vaccination, cervical cancer screening, and early detection.
