Rotary Club of Karachi Sunset Millennium Marks Education Month by Celebrating Education, Art and Impact
The Rotary Club of Karachi Sunset Millennium organized a Painting Competition Award Ceremony at the SFF School in F.B. Area to celebrate Education Month on 30th September. The event concluded the 2027 Calendar competition, where 12 paintings were selected out of 100 entries to be included. Students from Classes 1 to 7 were asked to make paintings reflecting the theme 'Famous Monuments of Pakistan'. This theme was chosen to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of Pakistanโs independence in 2027.
The event was graced by Guest of Honour District Governor Shahzad Sabir, accompanied by District Governor-Elect Fahad Sikandar, District Governor-Nominee Abdul Jabbar Shaikh, Co-Chair District Education & Literacy Rubina Faryal, and President of Rotary Club of Shahrah-e-Faisal Irfan A. Rehman.
The program began with Club President Dr. Kausar Malik who remarked that "Even though we could only choose twelve winners for the annual calendar, everyone is a winner because of their beautiful artwork." School Principal Ms. Dua announced the 12 winners, after which District Governor Shahzad Sabir presented gifts to the children. The winning students were presented with prizes and certificates, while sweet bags were distributed to all participating students.
Co-Chair of Education and Literacy Firdaus Kamal who initated the project, provided a brief about the project and it's objectives. Following this, District Governor Shahzad Sabir addressed the school staff, students, members, and parents. The event was MCed by Chair of Education and Literacy Sarwar Peshimam.
The SF Foundation School has been established by Rotary Club of Karachi Sunset Millennium member, Danish Ghaus, in memory of his late mother. The school provides free education to underprivileged children. Over 250 students are currently enrolled from Grades 1 to 7, and the school will in time expand up to Grade 10. The School leadership and teachers graciously managed the organising of the competition as well the Prize Distribution event arrangements.
The calendar project is funded by 12 donors who contributed PKR 100,000 each. After printing, the calendar will be distributed, and all proceeds will fund future Education and Literacy Projects.
The participating children displayed discipline, enthusiasm, and creativity beautifully. Research highlights that nurturing creativity is as vital as academic schooling. Giving students the space and tools to express themselves through art benefits their mental health, lowers stress, improves memory, and boosts academic engagement and self-esteem.
In line with creating lasting impact, this initiative delivers both immediate and long-term benefits. It provided an immediate platform for children to display their talent on a large forum, while establishing long-term outcomes by raising substantial funds for future initiatives. Rotary Club of Karachi Sunset Millennium is committed to serving the community through sustainable initiatives in education, literacy, health, and environment.
