PinkWashrooms Project – Ebrahim Ali Bhai Government Girls School
Rotary Club of Karachi Pearl successfully inaugurated the PinkWashrooms Project at Ebrahim Ali Bhai Government Girls School, Orangi Town, Karachi. The initiative was undertaken to improve access to safe, clean, and dignified sanitation facilities for female students, particularly in an underserved community.
The project combines sanitation infrastructure with health education and awareness. PP Durdana Arshad, Chair – Women in Rotary, Rotary International District 3271, attended the programme as Chief Guest and emphasized the importance of providing hygienic facilities for school-going girls and creating supportive environments that protect their dignity and well-being.
Dr. Maliha Naveed, HOD Paedodontics and PinkWashrooms Ambassador, conducted an educational session focusing on women's hygiene, menstrual health management, healthy practices, confidence building, and the importance of open conversations about women's health in educational institutions. Rtn. Dr. Farhat, also serving as a PinkWashrooms Ambassador, addressed the students on preventive healthcare and the role of health education in improving the quality of life of young girls.
The PinkWashroom facility was funded and donated by Rtn. Jawwad Wasi from ZynesTech, supporting the development of sustainable community initiatives and improved facilities for female students.
The project was conceptualized and designed under the leadership of Dr. Syed Naveed Manzoor, President of Rotary Club of Karachi Pearl. The initiative aims not only to provide improved sanitation facilities but also to promote menstrual hygiene awareness, encourage school attendance, reduce stigma surrounding women's health, remove barriers to education, and support the dignity and empowerment of girls.
Commemorative shields were presented to PP Durdana Arshad, Dr. Maliha Naveed, Rtn. Dr. Farhat, and Rtn. Jawwad Wasi in recognition of their contribution to the initiative.
The project demonstrates the impact of collaboration between Rotary, educational institutions, healthcare professionals, and community supporters in advancing public health, education, women's empowerment, and sustainable community development.
