Inaugaration of 3 New Takmil Classrooms and 2 Water Chillers at Karabai Karimjee School
On July 21st 2026, the Rotary Club of Karachi Sunset Millennium inaugurated three new Takmil classrooms and two water chillers at the Karabai Karimjee School in Lyari. This expansion builds upon five existing classrooms, boosting the school's capacity to deliver Accelerated Learning Programs (ALP) for out-of-school children aged 8 to 16. Through a tech-driven, textbook-supported curriculum, the initiative enables students to achieve fifth-grade literacy within two years and transition directly into mainstream sixth-grade classrooms.
Recognizing that structural growth requires strong community roots, the event concluded with a dedicated engagement session for the mothers of newly enrolled students. This session highlighted the critical importance of regular school attendance and consistent academic support at home. The session ended with the mothers pledging their commitment to helping their children complete the program.
We believe that academics need to be supplemented with a safe environment equipped with libraries, essential sanitation and clean drinking water. Which is why we work closely with the House of Learning (adopters of the school) to ensure the students have all the resources they need to focus on their development. By combining primary education with vital resources, the partnership continues to create sustainable growth pathways for the children of Lyari. This recent effort was led by Director Education and Literacy, Sarwar Peshimam and Director Water & Sanitation Rumela Barma supported by Chair Community Services Omer Manya.
